Derby joy for Rangers Res

The Reserves started their season with a 1-0 win at neighbours Rathfriland Swifts thanks to a solitary strike from Dean Gordon in Jasy Hillis’ first game in charge.

Stand in keeper Neily Wilson ensured a clean sheet with two very good saves in a dogged first half.

Dean Mallen’s through ball for McCracken was instrumental in the Gers goal which saw Gordon round the keeper before tapping in.

With just under 15 minutes to go, Rathfriland went down to 10 men and from the resultant free-kick Mallen rattled the cross bar. Both teams battled hard but it was Rangers who came out on top in a tense derby match.
