Moneyslane have already proved they’re a force to be reckoned with.

They want the title. And they couldn’t have kicked off their campaign any better, smashing Laurelvale 9-2 at Jubilee Park, ace marksman Gregg Harrison hitting four.

Of the club’s four new signings, only Ritchie Nesbitt was in the starting line-up with Justin Hanna on the bench and both Gareth Rees and Neil Taylor unavailable.

Slane started well from the off and created numerous chances in the opening 10 minutes. After only 12 minutes, a corner by Brian Quilty was headed home by Harrison to start the rout.

At the other end, Ally Quinn and keeper Steven White combined to snuff out a Laurelvale chance. A penalty was awarded to Slane soon after but Jonny Kernghan’s well taken spot kick was expertly saved by the home keeper. Kernaghan then hit the bar with a thumping 20 yard drive and Brian Quilty saw a point blank shot saved with Gregg Harrison striking a post from the rebound.

It as relentless pressure and soon it paid off with another as skipper Gareth Bingham broke the offside trap and squared for Harrison to score before the striker coolly lobbed the keeper to complete his hat-trick.

After a great burst from midfield by Ritchie Nesbitt, the talented Kernaghan finally made amends for his penalty miss and drove home from 14 yards.

Right on half-time, he bagged his second in the strangest of fashions as a corner-kick found the net despite the best efforts of a defender to keep it out to make it 5-0 at the break.

Slane started where they left off in the second period and good work by Harrison down the right saw his cross headed home by Nesbitt for a debut goal.

Then Harrison broke the offside trap and unselfishly squared for Nesbitt to add his second. Darragh Peden and Kernaghan made way for Justin Hanna and William Davidson and soon after Steve Coulter came off for David Boyd.

The goals kept coming though as Laurelvale bagged a quickfire double before Harrison saw a penalty saved. He responded in perfect fashion as he got through on goal and superbly chipped the keeper before Quilty added the ninth into the bottom corner.
