Northern Ireland international Paddy McCourt is expected to make his Glenavon debut at Crystal Park.

His new side have confirmed they will play Banbridge Town on Tuesday evening (July 26) with the former Derry City and Celtic midfielder due to take to the pitch for the first time in a blue shirt.

“It’s massive for the club,” said a delighted Town boss Stuart King.

“I played against Paddy when he was at his peak for Derry City and he was just unbelievable. To have him playing in the Irish League is unreal.”

It does signal a hectic week for Town. They are set to face Banbridge Rangers in the Banbridge District Cup on Monday evening, Glenavon on Tuesday, Annagh United on Thursday and then Ballymena United on Saturday.

“If it wasn’t Glenavon, we’d probably have turned this match down but you can’t reject an opportunity like this,” continued King.

“Gary (Hamilton) had promised me he would give us a game and he has stuck to his word. He also said that he will try and make sure Paddy makes his debut, which is great for us.”

The match will kick-off at 7.30pm and admission prices are still to be confirmed.
