Narrow defeat for Seconds

Dromore Amateurs Seconds, under the new management of Neville Walsh and Keith Halliday, got their new league campaign underway with a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Newtonbreda Seconds on Saturday September 6.

With a much changed side, Dromore started well, with Mulholland and Locky giving ‘Breda problems.

On 10 minutes Conor shot just wide after good work by Locky and ‘Breda were under pressure with Dromore playing some great passing football.

On 25 minutes, Thompson played a through ball to Locky, who did well and slipped in Mulholland, who made no mistake from 15 yards.

‘Breda pressed and had one cleared off line by McCutcheon.

Dromore then missed two sitters by McCartan and Thompson.

‘Breda scored a soft goal on 43 minutes just as half time was approaching.

As the second half kicked off, the Dromore defence were caught sleeping on 48 minutes, when the ‘Breda winger beat three men and slipped the ball inside to the striker, who had nobody near him and tapped in from four yards.

‘Breda controlled the game for next 20 minutes and hit the bar from 40 yards.

Dromore pressed in the last 15 minutes but couldn’t find the net.

The management duo of Walsh and Halliday were encouraged by the performance and said with a settled team, results will definitely follow.
