Plenty of action for ‘Slane’s juniors

Moneyslane’s Under 10 and Under 11 Junior sides made their debut for 2014/2015 in the Carbane Games Development Fixtures last weekend.

Big thanks to Junior Coaches Ian Bailie and Gary Hanna. Ongoing thanks to the parents for all their support.

The new under 11’s kicked off the season on a lovely sunny morning at The Abbey school in Newry. Domolly were the opposition and both teams played some lovely football. The Slane back line were very solid with Luke, Joseph,Isaac and Thomas doing a fantastic job. In midfield was Niall, Ethan and Sam with Sasha and Billy upfront. Kieffer Mcknight was between the sticks. Lots of great passing, tackling and fantastic attitude.

The Under 10s kicked off their new season at their new venue at the Abbey school. Great turnout for the first match of the season with Julie and Sasha making their debuts for the team. Midway were the first team on the fixture list. Slane were under pressure for large periods of the game but never gave up. Courtney Graham was on the score sheet continuing her goalscoring form from last year.

The Saturday Morning Strikers started early in Banbridge kindly assisted by Janine Macaulay and Gillian Lavery; a great turnout from Matthew, James, Ryan, Charlie, Curtis, Joshua and Ethan. Praising all their efforts: “The boys worked really hard and played great.”

The U9’s started well in their second week at Brownstown Park, Portadown, they played with great determination and gave the game 100% right to the final whistle. Some great shots on target with goals scored by Tommy.

The U12’s kicked off early in Rathfriland with Roy Boyd: “Another hard game but the team worked hard and never gave up until the final whistle. Ryan Adams was immense in defence and Marc Cochrane scoring a brilliant goal 20 yards out - top corner.”
