Slane started the match brightly and created chance after chance with some great play down the wings and got their reward on 15 minutes with a great finish in the bottom corner from Johnny Adair.

Slane were now in control of the game but Wilson and Anderson couldn’t find the target with chances just wide. On 35 minutes, they doubled their lead with a cool finish from Jason Fairley.

The second period started with the away side looking nervous and Gilford were putting the pressure on but the Moneyslane keeper was very solid, pulling off a couple of great saves.

The pressure paid off on 50 minutes with a well worked goal to get one back for the home side.

Slane still looked dangerous on the counter-attack and were awarded a free kick on 60 minutes. This was taken quickly to the back post but Fairley headed just wide. Jardine then ran the full length of the pitch with the ball but still Slane couldn’t get the ball over the line.

It was a good display from the Reserves on the day and a well deserved three points.
