Banbridge Town boss Ryan Watson heaped praise on goal-scoring hero Ryan Gourley after Saturday’s success.

In last week’s LEADER, Watson had pleaded with his midfield to help ease the burden on striker Conor Downey.

Up-stepped Gourley with a two goal haul.

“There was no better time for Ryan to do it,” said the manager.

“Last week, Conor was the only one chipping in and we asked for the midfield to stand up and be counted.

“There was no better time for Ryan to do it. He has got great ability and has been getting himself into great poisitions. He’s always working on his final ball and his finishing and this will give him a great boost.

“He took his goals very, very well. The second, in particular, was a great team goal and he added a great finish.

“He works so hard for the team and hopefully now he can kick on and make this a regular occurence.”

Town are fast becoming defensive jedis and the manager was delighted with another shut-out.

“It’s a great way to go about things,” he said.

“Clean sheet aren’t easy to come by at any level of football so to have kept so many recently is a huge plus for us.

“I also have to give a special mention to Kevin Anderson, who I thought was immense in the middle of the park on Saturday.”
