Second-half comeback makes it three in a row for Town

Town Juniors U17s continued their winning streak in March to make it three wins in a row with a hard fought victory against Solway.

The locals started strong and were unlucky not to take the lead when Dylan Martin sent in an inch perfect ball to Ryan Williamson whose shot went just over.

The Juniors did, however, take the lead when David Gray opened the scoring after 10 minutes when he received a quick short corner from Josh Cargin, then beat a defender and hammered his shot home with his left foot from just outside the box.

Decky Loy almost made it two with a terrific volley from 18 yards, which hit the crossbar. Solway equalised from a corner with a good header. Josh Cargin almost put Banbridge back in front when his left foot volley bounced off the inside of the post and ran across the goal line to the opposite post. Solway scored an almost identical second goal from another corner to lead at half time.

Banbridge continued to press in the second half and got the equaliser after 17 minutes when David Gray chipped in a free kick which was partially cleared and he followed up and hit a hard low shot with his right foot this time, for his second goal of the game.

With eight minutes to go Banbridge were awarded a free kick. Gareth Orr hit a perfect cross which Ryan Williamson touched in with his outstretched foot.

Solway almost equalised again but were thwarted by goalkeeper William Dunlop who at full stretch pushed the ball against the crossbar.
