Donacloney Firsts took on Union Lusa at home on Saturday and eased to a comfortable 4-0 win.
The Holmes pitch in the village survived the heavy rain, allowing the Cloney to bag only their second Division Three victory of the season and lift themselves up to eighth place in the table.
Chris Shields opened the scoring, with Steven Leckey doubling the lead before half-time. Leckey got his second and the Cloney’s third of the game before Ben Nelson scored with a well placed finish.
Jason Stokes and Tim Carson put in solid performances at right-back and left-back respectively, as the defensive unit kept Union Lusa at bay to earn a clean sheet.
Kiefer O’Boyle was impressive on his return to the team having missed the previous game due to injury.
Ben Nelson got off the mark with a goal and two assists in his first game for the club’s first team, with Steven Leckey scoring twice again, having got two for the Reserves in last weekend’s game.
DONACLONEY: Curran, Stokes, Higgins, Watterson, Carson, Brown, O’Boyle, Leckey, Bickerstaff, Nelson, Shields.
