Hillsborough too strong for Dromara U13s

Dromara U13s 1

Hillsborough U13s 3

HILLSBOROUGH proved too strong for a Dromara side attempting to do the double over their local rivals.

Hillsborough controlled the game from the beginning, taking advantage of the absence of Dromara captain Timothy McCracken in midfield, and dominated possession, restricting Dromara to counter attacking opportunities. However, it was one of these counter attacks that produced the best chance of the opening fifteen minutes- Scott Hunter sprinting onto Ryan Williamson’s throughball, with the Hillsborough goalkeeper pulling off a tremendous stop one-on-one.

With half-time looming, Hillsborough finally made the pressure count, capitalising on a defensive error from Matthew Fitzsimons to stroke home after a goalmouth scramble.

Shortly after the break Hillsborough doubled the scoring, and a third was added with fifteen minutes left, the Hillsborough foward drilling a well placed shot into the bottom corner. Dromara added a consolation with five minutes remaining, Williamson’s powerful free kick parried by the goalkeeper, only to fall into the path of Fitzsimons, who blasted in from six yards. However, a Dromara comeback never seemed likely and Hillsborough held on to secure a deserved win.
