Banbridge Ladies Firsts turned on some second half style to secure an opening day 3-0 win over Larne in the Ulster Cup.

This year brings some changes to the squad but certainly not to the fighting Bann spirit as they battled on and displayed attractive hockey at Haveloock Park.

The first half served to be a teaser for the Bann girls, with a number of chances not being converted.

However, coach Robin Madeley issued some stern words at half-time and they did the trick with the goals soon rattling in.

The first was a penalty stroke, calmly and purposefully put away by Amy Atkinson. The second came from a well-worked piece of open team play and the final one came from a quickly taken free from Elayne Brown.

Player of the match was Jess Hassan, who worked tirelessly in defence.
