Anne and Liz takes top prizes as it hits peak season at Banbridge Golf Club

Anne Mairs got a deserved handicap chop as she claimed the Centenary Cup at Banbridge Golf Club earlier this month.

She won the competition with a hard-earned nett 66, enough to take top spot by a single point.

As a result, her handicap went down to 19.

In the much maligned format of stroke, there were a few more good scores and second place came in just a single shot behind the winner.

Yvonne Galloway was that runner-up with a nett 67. And just a further shot back was Ada Lavery with a nett 68.

The winner and the third placed golfer both played late in the evening. It must have been prime time for good scores.

The competition was sponsored by the Banbridge Golf Club Professional Jason Greenaway and a total of 50 ladies took part.

On the 12th July, Liz Armstrong swept to victory with 42 points.

That was always going to be tough to beat and ensured she finished a total of six points clear of her nearest challenger.

That was Ann Blevins, who took second spot with 36 points.
