They didn’t do it the easy way this week, 1-0 down at the break but Cathy Rees netted twice while Gail McConnell and Samantha Bann were also on the score-sheet during a free flowing second half.

The game began equally with both teams creating chances but Larne got the first goal from a short corner with the ball being deflected in from the left hand post.

In the second half, however, Bannn came back strong and started to string together some good moves up the left with Samantha Bann and Gail McConnell.

The forward line rotated well with Cathy Rees, Rachel Kerr, Alex Jenkinson, Nadene Black and Amy Atkinson all taking their turn to penetrate the opposition’s defensive line.

Skilful play by Cathy Rees around Larne’s keeper brought Bann back into the game with the leveller. Banbridge continued to work hard and were rewarded when Elaine Brown passed the ball across the top of the circle where McConnell smashed into the goal to put the league-leaders ahead.

This rattled Larne and they fought back but the Bann defence of Charley Brush, Gina Woods, D’Arcy Campbell and Jenny Grimes kept them at bay.

The Banbridge keeper Sarah McCabe made numerous saves to keep Larne from scoring. Then her hard work was rewarded.

Rachel Kerr made a brilliant run down the right wing and passed the ball into Samantha Bann to put the ball into the back of the net.

Banbridge were passing well with Heather Johnson giving a great ball into Cathy Rees who again rounded the keeper and scored for the second time.

Banbridge certainly put in a good performance to pick up the three points and remain six points clear of Rainey at the top of the league.
