As the weather continues to curb the start of the season, some Banbridge golfers didn't let it stop them picking up their prizes.

SATURDAY 6TH FEBRUARY

The weather on Saturday last was not as bad as was forecast. There was a good turnout for the nine holes sweep.

Alan is a very tidy golfer and he will have his sights set on more important competitions later in the season.

The Twos pot was split 50/50 between Andrew Burns and Billy Clarke.

2nd- Dennis Watt (17) 23 pts

3rd- Andrew Burns (16) 23 pts

Thanks to a strong finish he managed to stay ahead of Albert Morrison on countback.

John Convery was the big winner as he had the only two on the day and his Pro Shop account increased dramatically.

3rd- Dougie Stevenson (21) 21 pts

This gave him the remarkable score of 26 points and he won the competition by four clear points.

There was more god news for Colin. He shared the Twos pot with Peter Hillen.

All in all, it was a great day for Colin and richly deserved.

1st- Colin McKinney (19) 26 pts

2nd- Peter Hillen (11) 22 pts

SUNDAY 24TH JANUARY

Back in February 2012, Kieran McGrevey won the Sunday Sweep with a score of nett 26.5.

That is still the second best score ever recorded in the Sunday Sweep. Gareth Moody back in April 2011 set the record with a nett 26.

Kieran McGreevey is still playing good golf and did enough to win this one. Can he or anyone else get close to Gareth’s record this year? That’s the big question.

Graham Shannon came very close last year when he equalled Kieran’s score of nett 26.5. It can be done.

1st- Kieran McGreevey (24) Nett 29

2nd- Robert Haire (17) Nett 29.5

3rd- Eamon Galloway (19) Nett 31.5
