Marion won the British title in the style of compound barebow.

She practises at least twice a week, once indoors and once outdoors and has travelled extensively outside Ireland with Ballyvally to increase her experience of shooting different courses.

All her hard work is certainly paying off.

In the boys barebow section, Ballyvally archers won both the Under 15 and Under 18 titles. Matthew Beattie won the Under 15 trophy.

He will turn 15 soon and will therefore join the club’s Under 18 squad for 2017.

Tom Mehaffey won the Under 18 boys barebow trophy and is probably the youngest member of the U18 squad.

Both Matthew and Tom recently returned from the English Field Championships in Kendal where they got important and essential experience shooting against English Archers.

Despite the weather, it is now the summer and so Ballyvally moves outdoors from their winter base in Banbridge Leisure Centre. Sessions continue each Thursday from 5.30pm and beginners are welcome.

Details on the summer school can be obtained from Frank Mulligan on 028406 23748.
