Dunbarton were recently represented at the British Isles Championships in Llandrindod Wells, Wales with Andy Hughes, Conor McCartan and Derick Wilson were selected as part of the Ireland Senior International team.

Andy earned a recall to the team, gaining his first international cap as a member of Dunbarton and thirteen years since his last cap.

Picked at third on the rink skipped by Ballymena’s Stephen Coleman, they drew their first game (25-25) against Wales skip and 2010 Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Robert Weale.

In their second game on the Saturday afternoon, the rink lost (15-24) against Jamie Walker (England) but finished with a high on the Sunday morning when they scored 6 shots on the last end to win (18-17) against Grant Logan (Scotland).

Conor has been a part of the international panel from 2012 and was selected to play second on a rink skipped by Larne’s Andy Kyle, but unfortunately they lost their first two games - (16-21) against Steve Harris (Wales) and (12-31) against Steve Farish (England).

DJ Wilson has been a part of the Irish side from 2004 and had been selected a reserve on the panel for this series, but after the team suffering two defeats on the Saturday, was called into play second on the rink skipped by the newly crowned British Isles Singles winner, Marty McHugh from Whitehead.

They were involved in a close encounter and eventually lost 19-21 against Neil Speirs (Scotland).

Ireland finished third with one win from three games. That win came in the Sunday morning game against Scotland, winning by 20 shots.

The title was won by England on the last bowl of their game against Wales.
