The Seven Stars Restaurant in Loughbrickland generously sponsored the competition at Banbridge Golf Club last Saturday. We can all thank P.J. Johnston for that.

The proceeds would go to the Southern Area Hospice and that was a nice touch.

Jim Gracey (11), a top class golfer from Dromore, won with 41 points. Jim thought that he had thrown away his chance of winning when he failed to collect any points at the final hole. But thankfully it did not matter.

Conor Mulholland (5) did his best to catch Jim. He shot a one over par gross 70 which included a 2 at the last hole. He took second place with 40 points.

Eamon McAnarney (13) was third with 39 points. Eamon’s scorecard was a thing of beauty except for holes 4 to 6. He double bogeyed each of these. Three bogeys would have been good enough to win.

Dennis Watt (16) was the best senior player on the day with 39 points.

The coveted best gross prize once again went to Rory Madeley (4).

He finished with three 3’s for a fine 71.

Joe Smith (19) and Lee Willdridge (18) just missed out with 39 points each.

Thanks again to P.J. and the Seven Stars for providing us with an excellent competition.

And it’s congratulations to the winner, Jim Gracey.
