Young Matthew Savage (16) won last Thursday’s Open Stableford with a tidy score of 41 points.

He dinged the 6th but hit back with birdies at the 9th and 15th.

He was delighted to learn that his handicap was cut by two shots to 14.

His coach and mentor, the legendary Joey McCullough, is well pleased with his progress.

David Cherry (13) was runner-up with 40 points.

Clifford Thompson (19) was third, also with 40 points.

The prize for best gross went to Bill McCandless (5) with a 74.

Entries for the Thursday Open doubled from the previous week.

Let’s hope that trend continues.
