It was Past Captain’s Day at Banbridge Golf Club last Wednesday.

The first part of the day is a 14 hole competition for the WE Holton Memorial Salver.

Two players finished with 29 points and they had to be separated on countback.

Sydney Pepper was declared the winner and Declan Dooher was the runner-up.

Sydney was delighted to win this trophy for a second time. Teddy Holton’s two daughters, Jane and Susan, presented the Salver to Sydney amid loud applause.

All the captains then sat down to a delicious meal and reminisced about days gone by.

It is always a most enjoyable occasion and thanks must go to Noel McSherry, the immediate past captain, for organising everything so perfectly.
