Dromore Seniors take five points
THE Dromore Seniors did themselves a good turn when they met second-placed Donaghadee in their home league game.
They took five points in a nine shot win to set the pace in Division Two.
Rink 1: W Paylor, H Hylands, W Clinghan, D Shanks.
Rink 2: Andrew Johnston, R Greer, F Cranney, G Clinghan.
Rink 3: D Graham, J Elliott, K Aiken, J McKenny.
Rink 4: A Matthews, G Ervine, D McCandless, SG Malcolmson.
The first quarter saw the Donaghadee boys make most of the running to show themselves ahead by eight, with only one Dromore rink ahead. McKenny led by three while Shanks had a bad start, trailing by nine, SG was down by two and Clinghan was all square.
It was going more like the way Dromore wanted it to at the halfway stage, with Dromore ahead by four. Clinghan was ahead by three, McKenny was going well at 10 in front and Shanks had improved his position to four down while SG was now five in the red.
At the three-quarter stage, the visitors had shocked the home-boys to lead by five. McKenny was now 13 ahead, Shanks was six down, Clinghan had a bad quarter to be in the red by eleven and SG was a single behind.
A big effort was needed in the final ends and the home team did not disappoint to win by nine. McKenny had a good afternoon for a 13 shot victory, SG had a good last six ends for a change to record a win of 10. Shanks tried to pull things back but lost by four and Clinghan went down by 10.
This Saturday the A-team are away to Ulster Maple leaf and the B-team are at home to Moat Park.
- The Dromore Junior bowling team are finding it tough in Division Five and were outclassed in their latest league game, going down 38 shots against the league leaders Hollywood, away on Saturday.

The Juniors were not too bad when the five end score was taken with Houston ahead by three, Malcolmson four; Wilson down by two and Sudlow had a deficit of nine to show the home team ahead by four at the halfway mark.
The home team were starting to put the pressure on and had their margin increased to 19 ahead. Houston was now down by three, Wilson was not only going too well to be down by 10, Malcolmson was doing well to lead by 10 and Sudlow was struggling at 16 down.
There was still no comfort for the juniors at the three-quarter stage as they were down by 29. Houston was now in arrears of 13, Wilson was down by eight, Malcolmson was the only bright star at 11 ahead and there was no response from Sudlow who was down by 19.
The final six ends made no difference to the game with Hollywood taking six points. Houston was beaten by 25, Wilson was eight down, Malcolmson had a good winning margin of thirteen and Sudlow was down by 18.
