IT is a quiet time of year for most and only some of the more dedicated cyclists are out and about on training runs, touring and the trail quest events that are becoming more popular over the past few years.

That is half the beauty of the sport/activity - there is such a wide and varied range of things to do on your bike.

We may have ambitions of winning Le Tour De France but for some it’s just a way of getting out into the fresh air.

Maybe that might be a good new year’s resolution to dust down the bike in the garage or under the stairs and make a point of getting out on it, even if it’s just to the shop for that dreaded pint of forgotten milk.
