Rangers U14s smash Seagoe

BANBRIDGE Rangers Under 14s recaptured some off their early season form when they produced an eight goal display against a hard working Seagoe team on Saturday morning.

The game started slowly with Seagoe’s defence sitting deep to soak up the early pressure which all came from the boys in Blue.

The first goal came from an excellent one touch move after a Dean McIveena cross saw a cushioned lay off by David Barr fall into the path of Danny McCallen who blasted the ball into the far corner past the keeper.  McCallen was on the score sheet again within minutes when a corner wasn’t dealt with by the Seagoe defence and the ball dropped kindly inside the box for him to finish neatly into the roof of the net.

The third goal of the game came from Jamie Black who scored his first goal of the season after Seagoe were unable to deal with the excellent dead ball deliveries from Jamie Adair. A headed clearance saw the ball fall to Jamie Black on the edge of the box for him to finish with style from 18 yards.  The ever dangerous Matthew Holloway got on the score sheet just before half time when he out muscled a Seagoe defender to calmly finish from a tight angle.

With the score line at 4-0 Banbridge Rangers started to produce some pass and move football and dominated possession throughout the pitch. With confidence high opportunities soon followed with a second goal of the day from Matthew Holloway who used his speed to race onto a through ball to slot past the keeper.

Bradley Harper then used his trickery inside the box, leaving two Seagoe defenders dizzy before calmly finishing past the keeper.

Midfield playmaker David Barr then added to the team tally when he wrong footed his marker outside the box and smashed the ball home from 20 yards.  The final goal of the game came from a through ball from Jack Savage which was met by Simon McAllister who then slotted the ball through the legs of the onrushing keeper.

This turned out to be a comfortable victory for Banbridge Rangers but was made even sweeter by the excellent team performance throughout with the ball being played out by the keeper with quick pass and move football.  Man of the Match was David Barr with an assured and mature performance in centre midfield.
