Banbridge artist opens new exhibition

Ian Cumberland, an award winning artist, opened his latest exhibition of paintings in Millennium Court last Friday evening.

Born in Banbridge this 33-year-old visual artist studied fine art at the University of Ulster Belfast, where he was awarded the John and Rachel Turner award for the most outstanding student in his field. He has gained National and International reputation for his large scale award winning “head” paintings.

Alderman Arnold Hatch a Director of Portadown 2000 welcomed Ian Cumberland to the MCAC saying his work was amazing. “I am not a connoisseur of fine art but I know what I like and don’t like and I like his technically brilliant colour portraits and his use of mirrors in this exhibition,” Alderman Hatch said.

The exhibition which is entitled ‘Once Removed’ remains until September 24.
