Dromore Legion branch planning '˜Somme' concert

The Dromore branch of the Royal British Legion is holding a concert, in conjunction with The Somme Marchers, in Dromore Cathedral Hall at 7.45pm on Thursday, May 26.

A party of seven marchers will leave for France on June 24.

They will first conduct a brief march through Drmore, starting at Dromore Cathedral Hall Car Park at 6.45pm and finishing at the War Memorial in Market Square at 7pm.

The two charities to benefit from the 100-mile March in France will be The Poppy Appeal and Macmillan Nurses.

Representatives from the two charities will attend the planned concert.

They will inform the audience of the work they do and what happens to the money the public donate to them. The upcoming concert will feature music by Skeogh Flute band and The William Sterritt Memorial Flute Band.

There will also be a tribute in respect of the Battle of the Somme.

Members of The Somme Association will be in attendance to give a talk about the battle.

They will also have a number of World War One artefacts on display.

Doors open at 7pm on the night.

A Dromore Royal British Legion spokesperson said: “Please come along and support these two worthy charities while at the same time enjoying a night of entertainment and information.

“Entry is free.

“However, donations to both charities will be gratefully accepted upon entry to the event.”
