Get creative with Spring Arts event

Spring has sprung and with it comes the opportunity to get creative as Banbridge Spring Arts sets out a packed palette of artistic activities and workshops.

The event will be running from Tuesday 24 May to Wednesday 8 June 2016.

Budding guitar stars can tune up their six string skills at a special three week Guitar Masterclass with Blues legend Ronnie Greer commencing Tuesday 24 June from 7 – 9pm.

Fabulous Felt is a three week course starting on Wednesday 25 May from 6.30 – 9.30pm where you can explore the ancient art of felting and create your very own shoulder bag or clutch.

On Thursday 26 May from 6.30 – 9.30pm local ceramicist Ciara Campbell will show you how to create superb simple shapes and vessels in clay with the Pretty Porcelain workshop.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Anthony Toner will reveal his techniques and tricks of the trade in an informal discussion based Song Session workshop on Friday 27 May from 7 – 9pm.

Artist and broadcaster Dermot Cavanagh, who is perhaps best known for the BBC Awash with Colour programme, shares his skills and expertise in a wonderful watercolour workshop aimed at all abilities on Saturday 28 May from 9.30am – 5pm.

Also on Saturday 28 May from 1 – 5pm, Romaine Hodgen from Flowerworks will show you how to create a fabulous contemporary spring flower arrangement using a brilliant bouquet of fresh flowers.

All workshops take place in the Old Town Hall, Banbridge with the exception of Flowerworks which is held in Banbridge Leisure Centre.

Banbridge Town Centre will be transformed into a veritable outdoor gallery on Saturday 28 May when Art on the Rails converts the railings of the Old Town Hall into a pop up exhibition featuring the work of local artists.

The town centre will also be a flurry of fun as comedy duo Babcock and Bobbins take to the streets with their madcap circus skills and the roads will reverberate to the sound of music thanks to the tuneful talents of busker extraordinaire, Juram Gavero.
