Over 100 school children in different Primary Schools across Banbridge recently took part in educational shows promoting responsible dog ownership and how to stay safe around dogs.
Gillie the Poodle was the star of the show.
Organised by the Dog Warden Service of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with the Dogs Trust, children in primary five were encouraged to think about the time and care that a dog needs on a daily basis through a fun and informative workshop.
A question and answer session was held along with a demonstration of microchipping equipment and case studies on rescue dogs before the all-important freebies were handed out to each pupil.
According to organisers the highlight of the show was of course the beautiful dog Gillie who brought plenty of fun to the proceedings before pupils gave him a pat under close supervision.
The schools that took part in the event were: Drumadonnell Primary School, Moneyslane; Milltown Primary School, Lenaderg, Kinallen Primary School and Fairhill Primary School.
