The Education Minister’s announcement of an additional £14million to the schools budget has been welcomed.
Local MP David Simpson also praised the Minister for his continued work.
The minister will be writing to schools to inform them of the news, which was announced at the DUP party conference at the weekend.
Mr Simpson said: “I am delighted with this announcement which will see schools receive a much needed cash injection to their budget. This money will be going straight into the classroom, into front-line services to provide the highest level of education to our children and young people.
“The Minister must be strongly commended for making this money available. We recognise that schools still face challenges in terms of budget constraints and allocating money, however this is a step in the right direction. This is a clear example of a Minister listening to school principals - their concerns and priorities.”
