Banbridge Historical Society’s Christmas outing on December 3 to Newry Library promises to be an interesting one.

Society members will meet in the carpark of the Belmont Hotel at 6pm, travel in an Eamonn Rooney coach and visit Newry Library to watch some of their archive movies and examine local historical documents.

The library will show a film, ‘Ulster Rich and Rare’ which was shot by Lord Wakehouse, who visited many work places and towns throughout Ulster.

They will also show a 15 minute film ‘The Story of Ulster Home Guard’ and a short one ‘The U Boats Come.’

Newry Library has a fascinating Heritage Collection on the top floor and members plan to examine a

collection of books and maps kept there.

Historical Society intends to leave Newry Library at 8pm and travel to The Belmont Hotel for a fork supper.
