The Northern Ireland CountrySports Fair is ‘swooping’ into action this year at its new residence in Scarva.
The event, which is managed by Derek Lutton former event director for the Moira Game Fair, will come to ‘permanent roost’ in the historic 340 acre demesne of Scarvagh House on June 6 – 7.
The Fair is a two day extravaganza celebrating the top country sports and pursuits which are thriving throughout Ireland from gun dog tests and archery, to clay pigeon shooting and angling.
The family-orientated event also aims to educate and entertain. A range of main arena attractions and teams of fully trained countrysports experts will ensure a strong focus on the rich heritage and traditions which are embedded in country life.
The extensive grounds of Scarvagh House have also enabled the organisers to expand the equestrian section of the CountrySports Fair. For the first time it will host Hunt Chase qualifier classes for the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS – a major coup for the event.
Derek Lutton, Event Director said: “We are thrilled to unveil our new home at Scarvagh House. The rolling landscape of this historic country estate provides the perfect backdrop for the Northern Ireland CountrySports Fair.
With the past event at Moira having gone from strength to strength – annually attracting 18,000 visitors - this new location provides additional space to enable us to grow the fair significantly over the coming years.
We can promise another action-packed weekend with top competitions, spectacular main area attractions and a host of stands and exhibits which will demonstrate why countrysports are such a vital part of our heritage.”
Councillor John Hanna from Banbridge Council said: “As a Scarva man and a Banbridge Councillor I am delighted to have assisted in bringing back this outstanding Game Fair to our district.
“The event is being hosted by the Buller family of Scarvagh House who are very enthusiastic.
“I am very confident that the NI CountrySports Fair will provide a superb day out and can only grow in popularity as we ‘move forward’ together.
“Can I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the event.”For further information on the event please visit www.countrysportsfairs.com or facebook.com/countrysportsfairs or Twitter at @CSFairs.
