Councillor Carol Black and Alderman Paul Rankin have said a suspect device caused unwelcome disruption around Dromore yesterday (Monday) ahead of today’s Twelfth demonstration.
A controlled explosion was carried out on the suspect device at Ballymacormick Road and the road was closed for about two hours from 11am.Police described it as an an elaborate hoax. The roads were reopened again by 1pm.
Councillor Black and Mr Rankin on Facebook posted: “We agree wholeheartedly it’s an elaborate attempt to destroy what will be a great family day out - let alone the businesses that are opening for some most welcome trade.
Over 20,000 people will be coming to Dromore and we want them here for the right reasons.”
