Six penalty points were imposed on a motorist who drove at over 90mph on the A1 dual carriageway near Dromore.
Michael McMurray (24), Belle Bashford Court, Belfast, was also fined £250 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for driving with excess speed on February 10 this year.As well he was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard he was detected travelling at 93mph in a 60mph zone on the southbound carriageway.
A barrister representing the defendant said he accepted his speed was excessive but it was his good fortune there was no other traffic inconvenienced.
He added that police attention was not drawn to him by the manner of his driving. McMurray already had three points on his licence. District Judge Benita Boyd said McMurray had a relevant record and the speed was very high.
