Cannabis was found in the sock of a 21-year-old man when he was arrested by police,Banbridge Magistrates Court heard last Thursday.

Colin Brady of Churchview Close, Laurencetown, admitted being in unlawful possession of cannabis on May 14 this year.

Braday was sentenced to one month in prison, suspended for 12 months.

The court heard that the defendant was arrested on May 14 and when searched he was found to have a small quantity of cannabis in his right sock.

He said that it was for his own use.

A barrister representing the defendant said it was his client’s third conviction for a drugs offence.

He added that Brady had stopped using cannabis and had a job interview.

Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said Brady had a chance to get into the workplace and that would be an incentive to stay out of trouble.
