Sentence adjourned on mix of charges

A 30-year-old man will be sentenced later this month at Banbridge Magistrates Court after he admitted a variety of assault, theft, drugs and motoring offences .

He is Samuel George Thompson of Railway Street, Banbridge.

Thursday’s sitting of the local court heard from Thompson’s barrister that the defendant would be pleading guilty to two charges of assaulting police on March 14 this year.

Two theft charges were also put to Thompson and he admitted both of the offences.

The charges concerned the theft of Yankee Candles, valued at £65.97, from Card Cave on March 23 and the theft of goods from Poundland on the same date.

Through his barrister Thompson also admitted the unlawful possession of a quantity of cannabis on January 25 this year.

He further admitted driving without insurance and failing to display ‘L’ plates at Scarva Road, Banbridge, on April 28.

All matters before the court were adjourned until August 25 to allow preparation of a pre-sentence report in the case.
