Inspectors were also complimentary about the children’s literacy and numeracy skills and the teachers’ planning for both.

“The overall quality of the children’s achievement and standards in literacy is outstanding,” the report read. “The recent whole school focus on the correct use of grammar for spoken and written English has impacted positively, resulting in the high quality of both the written and spoken language of the children.

“The children are very enthusastic about their learning in mathematics and numeracy and achieve very good standards overall.”

Both the leadership and management was described as outstanding with references made to the innovation at Iveagh and the desire to do the best for every individual.

Mrs Elaine Weir of the School Governors said, “Every member of the staff at Iveagh has worked extremely hard to achieve this excellent result from the inspectorate.

“To receive a report with no recommendations for improvement is truly outstanding and I have no doubt that staff will strive to maintain safe, happy learning experiences for all children, both now and in the future.”

Alan Brown, vice principal said: “I am delighted that the hard work shown by the pupils and staff have been reflected in this report.
