Foul smell sniffed out of village

A foul smell which had been causing residents in Donaghcloney to turn their noses up has finally disappeared, says a councillor from the village.

Mayor of Craigavon, Mark Baxter, said he had contacted NI Water for after locals had got in touch with him.

“I contacted NI Water who came out to access the issue quite promptly although at that time couldn’t find any problem in their system .

“The problem got steadily worse and after much lobbying with Environmental Health, DRD and NI Water the issue was eventually found and a few blockages in the underground network cleared.

“Local residents are delighted that they no longer are met with such a pungent odour when leaving their homes. It just shows a bit of persistence pays off and I really must publicly thank NI Water for eventually sorting out the problem.

“We still have a few issues in the village with problems at the pumping station near the entrance to the Poplars and so on but I’m assured these are being dealt with. In the meantime if any residents have any other problems please don’t hesitate to contact me on Twitter @baxterdup or facebook ‘Cllr Mark Baxter’.”
