MEMBERS of the 58th Northern Ireland (Banbridge Road Presbyterian Church, Dromore) Girls' Brigade Company would like to thank everyone who supported them in their 60th anniversary celebrations this year.

Beginning with an Enrolement/Anniversary service, celebratory events also included a coffee morning and musical concert featuring the PSNI Ladies' Choir; these last two events raised 2,000 for Newry Hospice into the bargain.More recently, the girls staged two display nights, looking back in time for inspiration with a revival of music and other items from bygone years.

A spokesperson added, "We were honoured this year by two families donating a cup and a shield to the company, the cup being donated by Mr. David Ringland and his daughter Rebekah, in memory of Mrs. Sharon Ringland, a lifelong member of the company.

"The shield was donated by M. and Mrs. Kenneth McCready, who have had family connections with the company throughout its 60 years and, at present, three young daughters in the company."

The company ended the year's celebrations with a successful anniversary dinner in Banbridge Road Church halls.

The dinner was attended by past and present members and friends who reminisced and looked at old GB memorabilia.
