The Housing Executive has undertaken resurfacing work at Church View Villas in Gilford.

The news has been welcomed by DUP MLA Stephen Moutray.

He also called for Road Service to adopt the road so future maintenance would be routine.

Mr Moutray said the work was much needed and followed a strong lobby from residents in the area.

He said, “I would like to place on record my thanks to the NIHE for their resurfacing working in Church View Villas, Gilford.

“This area was in extremely bad condition and was unsafe for pedestrians and home owners to travel along.

“I believe the work that has been carried out will assist and make it much safer, however, I am very much
intending to lobby for a joint civil engineering scheme between Road Service and the Housing
Executive with the hope that Road Service would adopt it so that future maintenance would be routine.

“Unfortunately many areas across our constituency are like this were they have not been adopted in years gone by and are left to go to wreck and ruin with
no authority taking responsibility.

“This is a long term goal and I know that personally I will be seeking to see a resolution in the future.”

He concluded:“In the interim I am pleased with the work that has been carried out and look forward to continuing my lobby and work with residents in this regard.”
