Local MP David Simpson and Assembly Member Sydney Anderson recently met with the Southern Trust acting chief executive, Paula Clarke.
High on the agenda was operational difficulties within the Trust which in turn leads to the need for securing more medical staff and a new build on the Craigavon site.
Speaking after the meeting, David Simpson said: “The trust are faced with very difficult decisions; waiting times are high and budgets are at an all-time low.
“However, I was encouraged by Ms Clarke’s clear vision for the Southern Trust and how they can progress to provide better services to its patients.
“Staff work day by day in what are often very trying circumstances to deliver the highest possible standard of care to patients.
“They are actively recruiting and encouraging medical professionals to choose to work within the Southern Trust.”
