Banbridge Lipreading Group meets for the first time

People living with hearing loss in Banbridge are now being offered a taster course in lipreading by a new group which has met for the first time last month.

Fifteen members met in the Training Room at Tesco Bridgewater Extra Store in Bridgewater Retail Park on Tuesday, April 28, for the start of the six-week course.

The group is the initiative of local Rathfriland residents Leslie and Ramona Williams and is supported by UK hearing loss charity Hearing Link.

Anne Madill, an experienced Lipreading Tutor, leads the group.

Leslie said: “It’s great to have this group up and running in the area.

“Lipreading is a vital skill for people like myself who are living with hearing loss every day.

“We want to continue to offer this in the future so please offer your support by helping us to raise funds for this very worthwhile cause.”
