DUP MP David Simpson has congratulated Mullahead District Ploughing Society on the launch of their centenary celebrations.
Speaking following their 100th anniversary dinner in Craigavon Civic Centre Mr Simpson said, “I want to congratulate all those involved in the organisation of the recent celebratory meal at Craigavon Civic Centre.
“This year at Mullahead it is set to be bigger and better than ever before with lots for all of the family to do.
“Since its establishment in 1912 the event has grown into the largest one day event of its kind in the British Isles. Across Northern Ireland, and particularly the rural parts of County Armagh, we are proud of our connections with the agricultural industry.
“ Every year I look forward to this special day.
“This year will be tinged with sadness following the passing of Mr Hugh Richardson.
“My thoughts will every much be with the family as we approach the 28th February however, I know that Hugh’s charisma and character will live on in the ploughing match for many years to come.”
