A DROMORE veterinary practice has picked up a special thank-you certificate from Action MS after raising more than £1,000 for the charity.

The team at I. W. Moore MRCVS Veterinary, Dromore and Moira, raised the money by recently taking part, as 'Lagan Valley Vets', in an 'It's a Knockout' event at Lisburn Leisureplex.

Theirs was one of six teams taking part, the othere being Corus Steel, Next Home, Olympic Lifts Ltd and the Misfits.

The Lagan Valley Vets finished in sixth place but they had already secured the top fundraising trophy with a fantastic total of 1,081.21.

Owner, Ian Moore owner, said he was delighted his team had won the trophy.

"Action MS is a charity that is very important to my family," he nsaid, "my grandmother was one of the founding members of Action MS 34 years ago.

"I would like to congratulate my team on their efforts in aid of a worthy charity. We had a great laugh and really enjoyed the event."

Action MS Chief Executive, Ann Walker, offerd her thanks to Ian, team captain Barry McNulty and all those who took part.

"Mamie Waugh MBE, Ian's grandmother, was one of the founding members of Action MS," she said. "Mrs. Waugh's support was invaluable. "Through the Banbridge Support Group Mrs. Waugh was instrumental in ongoing fundraising activities to support the growing work of Action MS."

Again thanking the team for its support, she added, "Northern Ireland has the second highest incidence of multiple sclerosis in the world.

"Action MS is here for people living with multiple sclerosis, their families and carers. We can provide a listening ear, support for individuals and families, legal advice, befriending and support.

"All Action MS services are free thanks to the support of a generous Northern Ireland public."
