Local DUP MLA Sydney Anderson has welcomed the completion of the new £16 million Health and Care Centre in Banbridge.
Mr Anderson stated,“The new state of the art facilities will complete the development of the Health Village on the site of the former Banbridge Hospital.
“It will be of great benefit to all the local people in the wider area.
“The new health and care facility replaces three current facilities which are the Health Centre at Scarva Street, Copperfields which offers day care to adults with a physical disability and Banbridge Social Education Centre for adults with a learning disability.
“I firmly believe that this new centre in Banbridge will meet the needs of local people and will also help to alleviate pressure on our hospitals.”
Mr Anderson continued stating, “It is always of vital importance that we invest in improving healthcare in Northern Ireland so that people can benefit from the high quality provision they deserve.
“The new Health and Care Centre will have approximately 220 staff who will offer a range of services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, specialist nursing, a rehabilitation suite and two dental surgeries.
“On top of this there is also bookable space on offer for additional visiting services.
“It is encouraging that this new facility will be opening in the very near future and I look forward with optimism in the belief that it will provide high quality services that are of great need to people throughout the area.”
