Meanwhile Sinn Fein Cllr Keith Haughian said financial pressures should not compromise road safety. “Sinn Féin raised concerns with the Department regarding the lack of pedestrian barriers on Lake St and the need for traffic calming measures in both Lake St and the Antrim Rd. Residents have made it clear that the speed of traffic is a major concern. Whilst a study has been done, some road users continue to speed. There are no traffic calming measures or pedestrian barriers here.”.
