Dromore Seconds were seen off 2-1 by Newtownbreda Seconds in Belfast last weekend.
Breda kicked off playing into the blinding sun and Dromore were taking advantage early on creating some good openings. After a series of corners from Dromore, Cunningham hit a great shot and only a wonder save from the Breda keeper kept it scoreless.
On 40 minutes, Dromore gifted Breda the opening goal when their defence couldn’t clear a simple through ball and Breda’s striker rounded keeper Herron and finished easily.
The second half started badly for Dromore as their deficit was doubled. Again poor defending from a free-kick left the Breda striker unmarked to tap in.
Dromore immediately made changes and for the next 40 minutes dominated the game, Green, McCartan, Beattie and Cunningham all having chances. It was Green who pulled a goal back on 75 when he beat four men on his own and finished well. On 85 minutes, Breda’s keeper produced his second wonder save of the match to keep the score 2-1. Dromore can count themselves unlucky this time as on another day could have had six goals.
