Donacloney Firsts failed to finish the season off with their third win in a row as Newmills won 2-0.
It was an end of season game with nothing to play for and both sides took a while to get into any kind of rhythm. It was Newmills who took advantage from a corner that wasn’t cleared by the home defence and led to a simple tap in.
The second goal came from great play by the Newmills stand-out player and captain who used his pace to get in behind the Cloney defence and lob the outrushing Derek Curran.
The second half saw ‘Cloney’s best chances of the game however Tommy McElroy and Kane Croft were unable to convert these chances to get their side back in the game, and Newmills then killed the game off with a third.
CLONEY: Derek Curran, Jason Stokes, Damien Higgins, Davy Sterritt, Tim Carson, Johnny Brown, Gary Knox, David Acheson, Tommy McElroy, Kiefer O’Boyle, Kane Croft.
Meanwhile, the Reserves finish their season at home to Silverwood United Reserves tonight (Tuesday).
