Dromore lad Michael helps select team to a top finish in Blackpool

Dromore Amateurs Youth U15s striker Michael McCavitt recently got picked for a South Belfast Youth Football select team.

After numerous trials and friendly matches, the culmination was the chance participate in the 2015 Blackpool Cup.

Fresh from a trip to see Fast and Furious 7 on the Friday evening, Michael and his squad began their campaign with group wins over SC Berliner 1920 (4-1) and Lewisham Youth (1-0). After a narrow 1-0 defeat to St Paul’s Artane FC, the team bet Lewisham Youth agai 2-1 to set up a final rankings match against fellow NI side Larne Youth.

Michael’s lads won that one 1-0 to finish ninth out of 20 at the Blackpool Cup 2015.

Michael also got a chance to take in the Fleetwood vs Yeovil Town and Blackpool vs Reading and visit Goodison Park, home of Everton FC.

“It was a great experience with a great bunch of Lads and I would like to thank Dromore Amateurs Youth FC and the South Belfast Youth Football League for the experience,” he said. “ This has made me realise that football is my passion and I will hopefully move into a career within the sport.”
