Being a goalkeeper can often prove a thankless task.
However, Banbridge lad Dylan Stewart is hoping he can earn the top reward for some big performances this week.
The tournament, previously called the Milk Cup, has been the launch pad for many a professional career.
What’s the odds on a young keeper finding his way to the full-time ranks?
“It gives you something to aim for,” he said, “but I’ll just keep my head down and work hard. Hopefully I can put in a couple of good performances and see what happens from there.” Dylan began that on Monday as he played a key role in his side’s 3-1 win over Partick Thistle.
“We’ve been training for about eight or nine weeks and it has been absolutely top drawer,” he said before that game. “I’ve been working with Stephen McDowell, who is a coach at Glentoran and that’s been great.”
Stewart plays for Cliftonville, where he has already trained with the first team.
