Four-midable run continues for in-form Town U17s

Town Juniors U17s extended their excellent run in March to four wins out of four when they comfortably beat lowly Ridgeway 4-0 on Saturday morning.

Town quickly got into their stride and were unlucky not to be ahead after only a minute when good link up play between Declan Loy and Ryan Williamson saw the latter send his shot narrowly over the Ridgeway crossbar.

Town continued to press and pass the ball well. On 10 minutes Josh Cargin was unfortunate to see his left footed volley rattle the bar. Finally Town were rewarded for their pressure two minutes later when a David Gray free-kick caused confusion in the Ridgeway penalty area and Jordan Hayes bundled the ball in after a goal mouth scramble. Banbridge should have extended their lead mid-way through the half when Cargin fired a shot over the bar after a neat one-two with Loy on the edge of the Ridgeway box.

The locals finally got their second shortly before half time when a precise long ball from Gareth Orr found Cargin in space, who calmly fired in Town’s deserved second.

After the break it was much of the same from the Juniors as they passed the ball well, putting the Ridgeway defence under heavy pressure for long periods. This pressure yielded Town a third goal after Adam Maginnis played in Cargin, down the left, who drove the ball across the outstretched keeper into the far corner for his second of the match.

Maginnis was then to grab a goal for himself and add gloss to the result when his determination to get in front of the keeper allowed him to squeeze the ball past the keeper bringing about the fourth and final goal.

Banbridge will be hoping this unbeaten run can continue into their final three games enabling them to cement their grip on second spot.
