IT was another cold frosty morning when Dromore arrived at Warrenpoint for a 10am kick off.

There were a few changes to the team with David Bailey coming onto the subs bench and Joel Nixon, who did not play the last time Dromore had a narrow defeat to Warrenpoint.

The game started off bright with nice movement down the left by Euan and Matthew Briggs, forcing an early corner. With all the pressure coming from Dromore it was Warrenpoint who scored first, when the locals were caught on the break.

Dromore continued to play good football and it was their turn to score. Good work from Matthew Briggs, who tried a cross that was blocked, led to a second opportunity and Euan finished off from right of the goal. Euan then went off to be replaced by David.

The next attack came down the right. Morgan, Adam and Matthew Magill had been trading passes and this led to a breakaway down the right by Matthew Magill, who passed two players and played a delightful cross come shot into the box. With the keeper beaten and both David and Matthew Briggs ready to pounce, the ball from Matthew Magill nestled in the left hand corner of the goal. This was one of the best solo efforts the team has ever seen, all the way from the halfway line.

The next goal came just before half time when a Warrenpoint player handled the ball from just with in his half. Philip, from 25 yards, hit a rocket of a free kick straight into the top right hand corner of the goal. An amazing shot well worth the celebration from the rest of the players in the box.

The second half saw Warrenpoint starting strongly and Morgan, Nathan and Joel had to concentrate hard at the back. Josh also made some outstanding saves. They could not, however, stop their number 9 who made a great run and scored. They also missed two one on ones with Josh who stood up tall.

Then Dromore began to play again and it was Adam who had switched to the left hand side, cut in field and supplied a great ball to Matthew Briggs, who supplied the cross, which Euan fired in to score on the half volley.

Matthew Magill continued to play down the right and Nathan stayed solid at the back. Joel had a shot that grazed the post.

John was pleased with the team performance and was glad to get the first win of the New Year in the Mid Ulster league.
