Joy for Jillian as Wilson seals a win in Dromore Fours’ first game of the year

Dromore Fourths travelled to Antrim on Friday night and saw off Randalstown 4s 1-0 in the first round of the plate.

Dromore Fours hadn’t had a match in 2015 and as a result were raring to go and full of energy.

They started off strong with the midfield of Ashton Tolerton, Jenny Winson and Eimer Cumnningham switching the ball across the pitch and feeding it up to the forwards.

Jillian Wilson, Erin Leeper and Megan McClean were determined the ball would go in but unfortunately for them, the keeper was a match for all their shots.

The defence Ellen Wright, Katy Tindale, Bex Cochrane and Katy Reilly pushed up moving the midfield and forwards up into the Randalstown circle. Jenny received the ball from Ellen and smashed the it up into the circle where it found Jillian’s stick.

She acted quickly to push the ball past the keeper into the net. At half time it was one nil to Dromore.

After a half-time talk from Jenny the captain and Andrea, the team was totally focused on gaining another goal. Dromore provided plenty of opportunities in the circle but were unable to finish.

Randalstown tried to break down the defence but only succeeded once and the ball was cleared strongly by our keeper Ciara Barlow.

The player of the match must go to the captain Jenny Winson for her skill in centre midfield.

Thanks to Sarah Wilson for her umpiring skills and to Andrea Wilson for coaching.
